'Silent Knight' Christmas Eve a Long time ago Twice I asked what his name was, but he did not reply, just a steely glint came from deep within his eye's , He wore a suit of shining armour, it shone from head to toe, I did not feel welcome there and thought that I had better go. I turned to walk away when I felt him touch my arm, His gauntlet felt ice-cold to touch, but I knew he meant me no harm His eyes have slowly softened now, there was a wistful gaze, I could feel he wanted me to know of his last two fateful days .His wife had died a traumatic death (He used hand signs that I knew) Then he removed his helmet and gazed around him at the view He gave me one last sad look and walked towards the river, I knew of his intentions, and gave an involuntary shiver, then he handed me his helmet and gave a sad, half-hearted wave I watched as this once proud man slowly sank to his watery grave, A stranger had been watching, but staying out of sight said the man had never spoken and was called 'The Silent Knight'
