WHAT IN TARNATION AM I DOING HERE

poem by: Kenvil Atkins

Against my better judgment, I was selected to judge another
I stand to lose my liberty eleven people all join hands together
Listening to speeches meticulously crafted by both parties of law
But my knowledge of law is like jumping into bed and closing the door
Yet I am to judge and condemn someone whom I have never met
My qualifications in this matter are zero among the eleven my regret
Who is the prosecution and who is the defendant it does not matter
The evidence shown and the witness's report all seem to sputter
Yet here I am forced to judge another I don’t fit in my judgment flawed
Yes I am jury 21 mother and I am at a trial North of the border
Release me from causing a verdict my brains are clouded with clobber
