Crossroads

Crossroads

Two roads meet.
A junction of souls.
They meet, he falls for her.

Love at first sight, a connection so sweet.
Now that he feels whole.
The next year becomes a blur.

The light in her eyes set his heart ablaze.
His shoulder there to hold her steady.
A symbiosis of hearts.

They drive through romantic city nights, laughing through the days.
He offers her his heart, but she isn't ready.
He was patient, but the road began to part.

He is torn from her, split between roads.
He is forced away, and the roads become dark.
He reaches out, but she is too far.

Both are alone, the roads ahead foreboding.
He calls out. The pain in her response is stark.
A monster had taken her. Torn her mind apart.

She breaks away, comes to him for a night.
All he can do is abade a single nightmare for her.
When forced apart once more, he leaves her his heart. His soul.

He finds the strength to fight.
To force his path back to her.
To defeat fate and change despite the toll.

But his return is too late.
She is gone. Lost.
His heart and soul gone with her.

He is alone, love denied by fate.
His spirit turned to frost.
His only choice is to turn.
