injustice

poem by: Ryan Barger

Injustice
In only a moment
As I longed for escape
And my soul was stretched
Beyond its limits
As I strained toward a window
That was painted over
With my eyes staring wildly
At a scratch
Wishing I could see outside
And for the first time in my life
I thought about taking a swing at someone
The only thing holding me back
The thought that jail might be worse
