When you've left you're home And the sky has fallen When the devil flies by And the mountains are removed When you've watered the streets With you're tears And the butterfly has fallen When you've cried out from the streets And preached from the storefronts When you're address is two feet away On a pole on the side of the freeway And the waters flow and swirl Going wherever they go When the shelter of the most high Is a Catholic saint And the shadow of the almighty is the side of the road When there's one swallow of water left And you have to get out of the ditch you're in When you sit down and you can't get up When you're drinking water from a pipe off the roof of a church And shaking the dust off you're feet on the steps When you think you might have seen hope at the bus station But they make you sit in the back I'll still be there
