As the sun disappears

poem by: Ryan Barger
Written on Sep 19, 2015

As the sun disappears
Behind the clouds
So my hope disappears
As I'm made aware
Of my doubts

Where is my faith
Where is my dependence
Upon the God
Who pours his spirit out so willingly

The quickness with which
My heart turns away
From such a blessing
Disturbs me

I take the Lord for granted
Without giving it a second thought

The lies I tell
Make life more difficult

The temptations I give way to
Are a cold wind
Blowing on the warmth of my heart

And like a pouting child
I run from the stresses
Of my daily life

Truly my heart is divided
I fall to sin again

Timothy Nelson commented:
This poem talks of a person that has not given himself completely to God and is living the way of this world. Very well written and is very emotional!

I love this poem. It is a sweet confession that you struggle with worldly influence. Those who do not love god are not bothered by these feelings. Keep sharing
