My God knows my name

poem by: Ryan Barger
Written on Oct 29, 2015

I may not be much
But I am something
My God knows my name
And that doesn't count for nothing
I reached out
And the world felt it
Like a cool breeze
Blowing across the earth
To know that something means the cross
And to do it anyway
That is love
That is obedience
When dark skies become clear
And you know you have made a difference
That is what life is about
The joy of helping
Surpasses the pain
And there's satisfaction
At least for a time
Refreshing those who need it
Is it's own reward.
Like a ripple spreading outward
When you throw a rock into a pool
The effects of small acts of kindness
Are often far reaching.
