Secrets of the Heart

poem by: Eireann O'Kane

Eyes without speaking tell secrets of the heart

A smile cannot hide,
The glistening black,
The pupil it speaks,
“This girl has lost her track.”

Look away or you will see,
The pain she cannot tell,
The hurt she buries deep,
For fear you will repel.

A laugh cannot hide,
The river of red,
The iris it speaks,
“This girl is full of dread.”

Look away or you will see,
The pain she cannot tell,
The hurt she buries deep,
For fear you will repel

For this girl, she cannot see,
Convinced she's playing her part,
That eyes without speaking,
Tell secrets of the heart.

I have read all your poems and I must say they are most intriguing, I really liked "Life". Your poems tell a lot about you. I like them. Keep writing.

Very nice work! Each paragraph reeled me in. Great words that made me feel her sadness!
