you couldn't conquer me

poem by: Raynesha Bessard
Written on Apr 05, 2016

in your attempts to break me you dd not make me weak
although your words were smiting and your blows brought me to my knees
your cruel ways only made bricks to build a castle for me
you wasted so much time and energy trying to bring me down
but it only brought me heavenward and you hellbound
you were very confident to think you could conquer my downfall
while you inch over in self hate and misery i still stand tall
i pray God judges you with mercy when that day comes
and that he places in me forgiveness for the things you've done
