The Hope

poem by: James Dicus
Written on Aug 04, 2016

I wish between us there wasn't such a distance
If we'd found each other sooner it just might have made a difference

But distance is nothing when time is everything
And time is everything when forever is our blessing

Even with that knowledge the miles will be hard
But what we've shared so far will keep us close though we're apart

I long for the time when I can hear your heart and hold you tight
When the only thing between us is the breath we share in the moonlit midnight

Like a child eagerly awaiting a puppy for the first time
So I wait to feel your sweet and tender lips on mine

Though happy and content as a single man
I can't help but imagine how life would be if I asked for your hand

Till that time though I'll focus unselfishly
On being the best man I can possibly be

Years down the road when we've done more for Jehovah
We'll take that next step and start our lives over
