This Is My Pretend Shirt

poem by: Theresa Taylor
Written on Aug 11, 2016

You took me beyond being just a human
A feeling I'll never know again
You've just made it so hard
Loving you, it's been a battle of the heart
I can pretend I'm giving up too
But look at me, trying to get a hug from a T-shirt that belongs with you
I'll be up so late contemplating
What? What do I say to you?... then I'll just keep delaying
You see... It's all about you, these days
I'll know I'm over your twisted ways
When my midnight coffee no longer matched your eyes
When I can dig through the truth of me and throw out all your lies
