California

poem by: James Dicus
Written on Nov 17, 2016

I admire the beauty of the fall starlight
On this crisp and clear October night

I so easily forget how beautiful California is
I honestly can't think of much more beautiful than this

One thing though I know for sure is you
The beauty of the this place compared is closely number two

The distance between us now is bigger than it's ever been
It makes me want evermore to hold you close again

With the intoxicating smell of burning pine
I think of when I will finally call you mine

Words don't justify the beauty if this place
Just like I have no words for your beauty and your grace

The beauty of the midnight skies
Is the beauty I behold in your dark brown eyes

Like the echo of a rock falling in a canyon
So is the echo of your name constantly in my mind

The point I'm trying to make with this
And the thing I want to say is

You are my California
