Awakened from my sleep by the bright, persistent sun I realise swiftly that my nights rest is done Thoughts of my day make me jump out of bed I must now get started, I must get ahead Breakfast comes first, different dishes for all Let's now wake them, let's give them a call Next pots to wash, wipe and put away And that is only the start of my busy day Need to get the children ready to go But that proves difficult as they like to go slow Finally ready and we are all in the car We head off to school, glad its not far Drive down the road, we are now on our way But then I am told some homework has gone astray Must go back home, has to be handed in today Children afraid what their teacher will say At last dropped off at school safe and sound Back to the car but no keys to be found Arrive at the office, lots of jobs needing to be done I look at my workload and just want to run After a quick coffee and a few minutes rest I settle down to work and aim to do my best At the end of the day when my desk is all clear I am shocked to realise the end of the working day is near Head off home, cooking and cleaning to be done Hopefully then we can all have some fun Pictures to be coloured, games to be played Lots of jigsaws that need to be made It's the little ones bedtime, up the stairs they must go Not so easy when they are both saying "NO" After a lot of protesting they are now snuggled in bed And all our goodnights are eventually said It's the end of the day, the house is all quiet I fall in the chair and re-live the riot Then walk up to bed, tiredness following me Tomorrow will come quickly and ready I must be
