A King Charles Spaniel we went to see He needed a home and lived in Dundee We expected to see a quiet wee thing But what we saw was quite shocking. He was grabbed by the throat by a small child The look in his eyes was really quite wild He will put me down the dog seemed to say I hoped he would soon I was turning quite grey. The boy let him go, then started the fun Around the room the dog started to run Around and around I thought he'd not stop he must be so tired on the floor he might drop. I said to myself I hope he'll fit in But to leave him behind I new was a sin Can I take his bed and his toys with me I asked the owner but there were none to see. We took nothing with us to remind him of home There was nothing there for him not even a bone Luckily he soon settled to a new way of life It was far removed from his previous strife. On the days we went out with my pony and trap He was there beside me how proudly he sat Until along side us he started to run I could tell by his face he thought it such fun. He is now an old dog always taking a nap He even needs help to climb up on my lap He has never regretted coming home with me And not once has he missed his life in Dundee.
