One tribe

poem by: Theresa Taylor
Written on Dec 01, 2016

there's one tribe on a planet not far
they are tearing themselves apart
Humans...
are the one species that will turn ourselves to ruins
so quick to war, so fast to hate
We fear what is different instead of loving what's the same
So shoot me in the eye and see that I bleed red
I guess you thought I'd bleed purple instead?
And eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind
Maybe then we'd leave ignorance behind
so sad that those are the stakes
and that is what it would take
for the world to see past the palette of skin tones
and open our hearts to a man that calls another land home
