Today

poem by: Aina A
Written on Dec 02, 2016

A day to remember, a day to forget
Awoken from my slumber by the intruding tones of my phone
A voice on the other side
A voice I am all too familiar with
Spoke kind words and yet
This acted as an arrow aimed at my throne
This made my forgotten feelings of all that sorrow grow
Grow and surface to a physical manifestation of heartache and tears
This day has brought me tears before the sun has even had a chance to wake
I hope though that this is no sign of what's to come
Next year and the one after
I wish to keep these tears at an arm's length
Away from me and hidden or non-existent still
