Oh, how I loved him I was so proud to be his I looked upon him as a hero A hero who used his fists Covered in marks and bruises Ripped apart from the inside He took away from innocence He took away my pride And so, it all began This became the life I knew Happiness was faked Yet no one ever knew So, I move on to the next To him I was only a game Chases me until I surrender Leaving me full of shame I get up, I move on That’s all I’ve come to know Fake a smile, fake a laugh My tears are not for show And so this becomes my life Trust is not a word Love is completely foreign My voice is never heard The next one likes me broken I forgive him when he strays I make excuses for his abuse Because I know no other way I know he wants me dead I see it in his eyes He searches for the bullets While the gun is by his side I finally break free Step out into the unknown But this game, it’ll never be over Cos the real world is just too foreign So I let another back in To control my life once more Yet the endings just the same I’m left bleeding on the floor. I will never know true love Because love is only pretend The abuse is at my own hands now And will be till the very end.
