PRONOUN HOEDOWN

Grab your partners he or she
I'll choose you and you choose me

We'll go left if you go right
They'll keep dancing through the night

Who can do the do-si-do
Everyone and anyone can give it a go

In this here hoedown we use pronouns
We'll all git around but don't put your name down

If you've got no partner, you're on the shelf
Just test your reflex and dance with yourself

Well dang ma britches, mighty fine
You split your infinitive an I split mine

Up on the stand they're a' pickin and grinnin
Down on the floor them's men and they's wimmin

I don't know your name an you don't know mine
We'll stick with pronouns and have a good time

They said they were going out to gaze at a star
But when they came back he gave a big yeee haaa!

Up in the hay loft where the lamp light flickers*
I lost ma heart an she lost her parasol

Without proper nouns we can do no harm
What's done in the barn will stay on the farm

An exercise in the use of pronouns - 31 instances

*This verse attributed to the great Ronnie Barker

Thanks Geoffrey for another one of your humorous poems, in another day and age you would probably have been the court jester...great work.

I really like this poem so humorous like when I dance with my wife.
