Separate Forces

poem by: Q. Ramirez
Written on Jan 24, 2017

The fact that I am Hispanic
is my ultimate reality, Karenga
My people of different shade variations
Revile your egocentric racism
Like Bloods and Crips too blind to see
That we crib next door to you
Instead we strife apart
Splitting the power of egalitarianism
We are forced to form our gangs
Each protect each others’ throats
Yet how ironic
Together we form this hood of poverty
Apart
Would it be any different?
