Walls

poem by: Cierra Arrendale
Written on Jan 29, 2017

Walls so high
I couldnt see the light
A prison of my own creation
I convinced myself for protection
I didnt want the world to see
I saw them but they couldnt see me
Looking out as the world passed by
I wonder how to even try
to be like them
A stranger in a familiar place
Completely unable to relate
So i hid away
Until the day
I looked out and saw you
My heart and soul reached out instantly knowing what to do
No fear
No pain
Because you and i are the same
