Mozzie Fest

poem by: Paul Stephens
Written on Apr 16, 2017

I'm out there in the garden at sunset
As the daytime is turning to dusk
The mozzies are ready for dinner
Sizing me up as the main course

They sneak up while I am hosing
They must know I can't hear their buzz
I only realise when I start itching
Driving me nuts as it does

My two cats just sit and are watching
Giving me their hungry look
They're not bothered that Ive had my blood taken
They just want their fat tummies filled

So there I am feeding those kittens
As I itch and resist not to scratch
Thank goodness I've got good fly screens
For those mosquitoes they are a good match

It's good to know I'm still yummy
Even if it's only for a mozzie snack
I bet they're just outside waiting
Hoping I'm soon coming back
