Lessons taught in painful reminders

From the love shared
we became a strong coupling pair
And towards a future together
my heart had began to repair.

For my past love led to sadness
And I lost the love of my life.
My jealousy had cost me my heart
Leaving it broken from all my past strife.

I had trusted in a man
to whom my heart I had given.
But a double life he led in his secrecy
Apart from the life I thought us to be living.

And he broke my heart to my dismay
Inside I felt the only one being made to pay.
To pay for the adultery that I didn't commit
But saddly he had chosen 2 with another permit.

Allowing new love but also the loss of love been
Throwing away a future that together I'd seen.
My heart was left in torn pieces he'd ripped out
Leaving my trust in any future in love to cause doubt.

Weakened by his betrayal I didn't believe I could go on
Non longer did feel I was worthy of love to belong.
Trust had been shattered and I began avoiding men
Believing that I'd never in life love ever again.

But over the years I began to grow strong
And once again I felt that I did belong.
And soon I met another love I could depend and rely
So with an optimistic head u gave love another try.

And slowly but surely a bond was beginning to grow
And the joining of two hearts once again did show.
My trust issues repaired by the patience and trust
That this new lover had given me back at my worst.

And now a future I can step into with hope
With only nostalgic reminders
of love relations that another man broke.
Now I am at the happiest that I've ever been
And so I relish my past mistakes that I have seen.
