Sweet and Slow

poem by: Theresa Taylor

Sweet and slow is my death
candy coated nails are securing my coffin
Burying myself in the iniquitous seductions of confections
Gluttony is more than an acquaintance, she is my confidant and only friend
Fructose and Glucose busily sticking to arteries and damning up the pain with tiny hands
Seconds on dessert and I forget each burden
again and again
bite after luxurious bite
Oh let me go
sweet and slow
