The truth be wonderful

poem by: Peter Duggan

Truth is something beautiful

Truth is something wonderful
Beliefs are foolishness
Unless one finds the truth oneself
It could not matter less
The whole world seems to want belief
And that’s no good at all
Look at the world around and see
How belief can be so cruel.

Each one says they have the answer
It’s written in some book
Because they’re stuck their own prisons
And never do they look
They never smell the roses
Or hear the bird’s sweet song
They’re too busy being right
And making others wrong.

The truth it never will be found
In the voices of another
It’s found so deep within one’s being
And yet we always smother
It beneath our daft beliefs
And so the world’s a mess
This world is filled with foolishness
And such unhappiness.

So true. Enjoyed this truth you have written. It flows smoothly throughout. Take care. Janet
