and You are Mine

poem by: John Salvetti
Written on Dec 08, 2017

You love me, but you fear what I might be.
I might be the nightmare - not the dream.
But how can something be so far from what it seems?
..you once thought - then you saw answers you didn't want to see.
You say, “hold me close and call me baby,
like he once did before he betrayed me.”
I'll surround you with my arms and hope that this will do,
but you'll still wonder if I'm armed with a weapon that will harm you.
So I will hold your hand and we will raise them high.
We will show the world that it can not deny
the happiness we sought and feel inside.
I am your love - and you are mine.
