Walk On By

poem by: Chel Scott
Written on Aug 12, 2018

We see them perched upon the kerb,
as we turn and walk on by,
they look to be in a pitiful state,
yet, do we stop to ask why?

They swallow their pride,
and ask us to see,
if we have it within us to help,
enough for a coffee,
a bite to eat,
and still, we walk on by.

At the very least,
we could share a smile,
or even stop for a chat,
but all we do is walk on by,
what kind of human does that?
