Insomnia

poem by: Chel Scott
Written on Aug 22, 2018

Again the dark night creeps in,
and it's almost time to sleep,
one coffee and one thought too many?
A stress alert on repeat.
I watched the scarlet sunset,
counted all the starts in the sky,
tried a movie and wrote a book,
but, still sleep evades me...why?
It's been nights since I enjoyed sweet slumber,
since I curled up in bed and dreamed,
all normal function is cancelled,
only insanity, til sleep is redeemed.
