The Cage

Something’s not right, something is not there,
Within this abyss that I attempted to fashion into a person,
All I was able to create was a beast that chose to dare,
To have a second dimension, to try and care,
So I had to lock him up, or else people would see,
This blunt instrument used to show feelings for another passionately.

Yet whether inside or outside the cage,
It will always be locked down, for its constant rage,
Inside the cage it does parlor tricks to be laughed at,
Feeling distant from those that it merely wishes to please,
Yearning to be worth more than a rat,
So when it decided to finally become free, it was looked at as nothing more than Sleaze,
They built walls around it and pushed it far away,
Never realizing that it thought “Today would be the day,
To show them I’m a real person too,
That I can be and think and act as they do,
That I can make her smile, and that’ll make me forget my troubles for a while.”

What foolish nonsense, what utter dross!
It has seen what I seen, and should know that all hope is lost,
That you can make them happy, you can make their day a little brighter,
But have real feelings for someone, and they’ll all bring out small lighters,
And corner you while you feel lonely, and set you ablaze,
While you were watching helplessly as eternity passed by, all days,
Forever having a darker tint in your fate,
Because you thought the cage could be escaped.
