Sadness

poem by: James Dicus
Written on Jun 22, 2019

Sadness overwhelms me
My heart breaks inside.
I am weak and tired
My happiness pushed aside.

I call friends for help
But no one can answer my heart.
I cry to make the pain stop
But my pleads are torn apart.

My past haunts my present
I don't know what will save me.
The pain feels far too fresh
I long to touch ground safely.

What was once a happy life
Turned into a sad disaster.
The guilt is strong and sharp
And its will is my great master.

I long and hope for happiness
To smile and laugh and love again
It seems it will never come to be
I’m alone and sad with no one else but I, myself, and me.
