Burnt-out Star

poem by: Rhys Thomas
Written on Feb 28, 2020

When a star burns bright,
It don't last long
My time is up
So here's my fight,
And here's my song
I can't do this any more

I've hung on for so long
But now I'm on the verge of collapse
For you all, I've been strong
But all my strength has been sapped
Now I'm heading for collapse
I'm heading for collapse

My time is up
My star has died
I'm going supernova,
Make worlds collide
And life's destroyed.
I'm a black hole so open wide

The pit's opened up
So stand at the rim
Just where you are
And take a good look in
I'm fragmenting again
Centre Stage, here I am
I don't wanna do this
I don't think I can

I can't go on
Carry on without me
Why do I feel this way?
Somebody, tell me why?
I don't wanna stay.
Somebody, let me die!

This is all I have to say
I can't find another way:
Fuck the World
But I love you all
Somebody, tell me why?
Somebody, let me die!

Somebody, tell me why?
I can't do this any more
I don't want to be here any more
I'm not gonna stay
It's time for me to go
And I'm going far away.
Somebody, let me die!

Somebody, tell me why?
Somebody, let me die!
Somebody let me die
