Innocence

poem by: Lucia Ocean
Written on Jan 20, 2021

We played in the fields without any clothes
As blades of grass tickled our toes
Me and all my friends were there
Young to the world and without a care

We played such make believe
As witchcraft and fairies
But also racing from tree to tree
Before our mothers called us for tea

We paddled in the little brook
To clean our muddy feet
And plenty of time we took
Drying off, bathing in the Sun's heat

It was hours but it felt like none at all
Before we heard our mothers calls: Liz!, Luce!, Megan!, Freddie!
...Come on now, your tea,'s ready!
